More time in Perth this month so have had to turn back a few hires and charters, but when I have been able to get out we have had some good fishing.

A few good fish again this month aboard by charter boat. The fish are still hitting the deck despite the cold water and difficult time of year.

Terri landed a baldchin groper and snapper and Colin got a snapper as well.

Look at the size of Rick’s baldchin! It went 59cm and Ryan landed his best ever snapper at 75cm.

Dave was pleased with his sandsnapper and Ryan’s last fish was this rankin cod

Laura landed a few fish as well as this snapper and her dad got a thumper sandsnapper.

Day out in 6.5m boat

Phi Pham hired the 6.5m last week with mates Mikey, Shaun, Frankie, Des and Jack. They headed north on a very nice windless day.

They got onto a school of sambos which gave them a work out. Phi holds her sambo, while Jack pulled up an octopus

Des was pleased with his catch and Shaun shows off his. They also got onto a few unstoppables that kept them entertained.

Kalbarri Kids Whiting Comp

The Kids Whiting Comp was on again the first week of the school holidays. This has really turned into an iconic event in Kalbarri. Sponsors come on well and prizes are very good. Kids can expect quality rod and reel combos for catching the smallest blowie, or most whiting, most unusual etc.

We give out 22 combos in two age groups.

I made a short video.

Kalbarri Offshore & Angling Club Local Comp.

20th August 2016

It was a slow day out on the water with pretty average weather for this month’s local comp Harry Waite landed a big sandsnapper and said “Wow that’s the biggest I have ever seen” and was so excited  until I pulled one slightly bigger 20 minutes later!

New member Steve got a big sambo, Brett got a nice coral trout and snapper and Beau Ralph landed the second

Biggest black bream for the year, it went 1.3kg.

Bite of the Month

Rick Holzgrefe from Queensland got this big baldchin groper while out on charter. It took him a long time to get as everyone else on the boat was pulling in fish but he was fishless until the last moment, pulling this trophy size baldchin.

I award Bite of the Month to someone who catches the best fish from one of my boats.
